Who we are

At Theseus, we believe that the future is unmanned. We are building aerospace grade systems at consumer prices and volumes to ensure the freedom of tomorrow's platforms.

Timeline

Our story

We set out to create a low-cost, low-weight replacement for GPS that works with any drone.

02.24

The hackathon

In just 24 hours, we designed, 3D-printed, and built a drone for under $500 that calculates GPS coordinates without a signal—using only a camera and Google Maps. After sharing our results online, the project went viral.

Following this post, we engaged with troops on the ground, drone manufacturers, and the Department of Defense (DoD). We uncovered key insights: the front lines of Ukraine are 100% GPS-denied, DIY drones are effective but heavily reliant on GPS, and existing GPS alternatives are bulky, heavy, and prohibitively expensive.

03.24

The first ever YC defense company

We applied to Y Combinator and became the first defense company ever accepted into the program, marking a major milestone for the intersection of innovation and national security.

05.24

The first test flight

In May 2024, we conducted our first test flight using prototype hardware, proving the concept of our Micro Visual Positioning System (VPS) in real-world conditions.

07.24

First operator test

Our technology was tested by members of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), providing direct user feedback and fast-tracking our understanding of operational needs.

08.24

First unit shipped

By August 2024, we shipped our first unit to a customer in the Department of Defense, a pivotal step in delivering Micro VPS technology to the field where it’s needed most.
